Fire Cat Farm had been a lifelong dream

The knowledge and the name were there for a long time. In 2020 after Dalila left Morning Glory Farm, the opportunity popped up, Literally. Someone said “hey do you want to buy my greenhouse?” and that was it. Fire Cat Farm was real. Now what?

Who Are We?

Dalila has farmed most of their life. While not farming you can find them making stained glass, tanning hides, cooking some elaborate meal with something they foraged, or building a yurt. Dalila has a degree in sculpture, printmaking, and art history from Boston University. This experience along with a construction and fine carpentry background only aids in Dalila’s ability to create elaborate floral installations with a great eye for color. After managing the 4 acre flower farm at Morning Glory Farm for many years, they left to pursue their own farm. Their extensive knowledge of plant growing and care helps the farm stay on top of pests and care for each crops unique needs.

In 2022 something big happened for Fire Cat, Casey decided to join the team. Before that Dalila was farming alone, weeding for hours in silence, harvest flowers while listening to music, and avoiding the inevitable website/LLC/business bank account side of things. Casey’s addition has made it all possible, and more. From swimming in the pond as kids to Casey swimming while Dalila gets freaked out by the squishy ground as adults, we’ve done a lot together. Casey and Dalila reconnected after their childhood friendship years later at Morning Glory Farm. Here, Dalila and Casey got to work side by side farming and grew to respect each other’s work ethic and decisions. They would have chats brainstorming possible futures and ideas. The dream began to form of working side by side as owners at our own farm and putting our idle dreams into reality.

Through the process of growing food Casey has cultivated a desire to highlight the benefits of farm fresh food by encouraging the use of working with seasonal, locally grown produce. Casey cares deeply about increasing access in local food and pursued their passions at University where they obtained their dual degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems and Ecogastronomy. Casey gained extensive hands-on experience in food distribution as the main contact for the Morning Glory Farm wholesale program for 6 years and by running their Community Supported Agriculture program for 3 years. Working at the intersection of food and farming, Casey finds fulfillment in connecting people to delicious, well-produced food and contributing to our complex food system.
